Try this. Got some plant tags. (the white, thin, plastic tags that are used in greenhouses to label whats been planted) found mine on ebay. you can write on them with a sharpie or you can use a label maker and make it look even better. I cut the pointy end off mine, punched a couple small holes on each end, and used small zip-ties to hold them onto my rod socks. now when I look into the rod box I can see rod type, reel speed, line size, etc..

I make my own. Few things I do different: I just heat a chisel with my propane torch and "chop" the braided sleeve, it cuts like butter and leaves a nice sealed edge on both sides. Secondly, I take a nerf bullet and cut it in half and stick it in the end to add a little padding and flotation should they blow off the boat.
Love the Nerf idea.
I just cut mine with a scissors; grab the ends with a needle nose pliers, and hit it with a flame. That seals it up fine.
Great info.
Awesome!!
which sleeve are you all using. that's fairly cheap. I saw some on Ebay that was 100' for like $15 is that about right

Sure, if you heat the knife enough. A scissors, followed with the torch works fine too.
I put a razor blade in vice grips and heat the blade up with a torch then just press down into a wood block to cut it.

Did anyone buy and find the 3/4" was to small??? Got a roll of 3/4" from ebay and thought it was small compared to what i ordered from a different company that worked. Would work great on rod with micro eyes but regular not so much.

My eBay 3/4 fits tight but works on all of my casting rods. Definitely need a bigger size for spinning rods. In fact, now that I am fishing more freshwater I am using spinning rods more often. Guess I better go back and look at eBay for 1 1/2 inch material.
