The temptest also comes in 24, would he be better with it vs the 23/25 temptest? (Is the 24 temptest odd in a way, I’m curious it theres a reason as to why you didn’t suggest it.)

You should definitely pick up a few mph going to a 3 blade.

65 give or take with a properly set up 175/184. Drive it like you stole it.

You don’t know what brand the 4 blade is, right? Gonna have to take a gamble most likely on the 3 blade pitch. I think the 23 would rev too high, but I’m not an expert.

It does not say a brand on it just 25 guess I’ll look
for a 24 and try that or borrow a friends 25 and see how she turns it

Borrow 23 and 25s and see how they run. A 25M should get ya where you need to be if your engine is strong like you say it is.

    Just my opinion.

If you are turning a 25P 4B @ 5800 on a 184 and only getting 59-60 mph, your prop needs help.

Kick the back of the shed out 2', put a 5-6" JP on the 184, find the right prop and set-up, be happy at 65-67mph.

I did some prop testing on my 186/175 a while back that may give you some information to help make a decision. I didn't play with set up as I was only interested in learning about the prop difference with an identical set up. The results from the props I was able to try are below. From that, I wound up with a 23" Tempest Plus and consistently ran 63. I could have played around and got more speed but the overall performance was so good I didn't want to mess with it.

Set up – 186 Champion with 175 Optimax set 3 ½” below pad with a 6” jack plate – One person, 30 gallons of gas, plenty tackle, and a little water in the livewell.

Speed from Garmin GPS – RPM and GPH from Smart Craft gage

    25” High Five
    3000 RPM – 26.3 MPH @ 4.2 GPH – 6.26 MPG
    4000 RPM – 40.3 MPH @ 7.7 GPH – 5.23 MPG
    5320 RPM @ 13.9 GPH – 4.11 MPG

    25” Laser II
    3000 RPM – 24.6 MPH @ 4.1 GPH – 6.0 MPG
    4000 RPM – 39.3 MPH @ 7.2 GPG – 5.46 MPG
    5260 RPM – 59.7 MPH @ 13.9 GPH – 4.29 MPG

    25” Tempest A40
    3000 RPM – 31.5 MPH @ 4.6 GPH – 6.68 MPG
    4000 RPM – 42.6 MPH @ 7.4 GPH – 5.76 MPG
    5310 RPM – 59.6 MPH @ 14 GPH – 4.26 MPG

    24” Tempest Plus
    3000 RPM – 30.9 MPH @ 4.7 GPH – 6.57 MPG
    4000 RPM – 42.1 MPH @ 7.3 GPH – 5.77 MPG
    5510 RPM – 61.2 MPH @ 14 GPH – 4.37 MPG

    23” Trophy plus
    3000 RPM – 30.6 MPH @ 4.4 GPH – 6.95 MPG
    4000 RPM - 40.7 MPH @ 7.3 GPH – 5.58 MPG
    5540 RPM – 59.9 MPH @ 13.8 GPG – 4.34 MPG
