    2009 Mercury 75ELPT DFI Optimax - 1B721178 Pouring Gas

So, I work at a casino and we experienced a huge flood in 2011. The company went out and bought this 2010 Tracker Grizzly and ran it for about a month. I think its been used once since, but haven't been ran in 3.5 years. They had me take it out yesterday and try to run it again. Well, I emptied the old gas from the removable tank and put fresh gas in it, put a new battery on it, and took it to the lake. It will turn over, but will not fire up. The safety lanyard is in place. I noticed fuel pouring out from the bottom of cowling. I took the cover off and found it was coming from a vent hose connected to the top of the fuel system. What would make this happen? Is it overfilling? Is the float in the fuel system possibly stuck?

Thanks that helped but we cannot keep pressure in the tank.. One of the engineers took the vapor separator apart and it was gummed up so bad, the float was stuck. He cleaned it and put it back together. We installed new plugs also. We disconnected the vent hose on top of the fuel separator to check the flow and it was good. after reconnecting the hose, it started up and ran for a couple minutes. I could hear one of the pumps inside whining, but it worked...momentarily. It would not start again. Ill be going tomorrow to look for an inlet needle and seat and diaphragm kit. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Suggest you follow advice in these topics from the FAQ at top of the 2.5 and 3L forums (apply to all Optimax engines) and since this engine hasn't been run in 3.5yrs pay close attention to the injector cleaning recommendation in the annual maintenance topic.
