    Solix XM 14 20 MDI T looks great--worth it?

I do use DI quite a bit for walleyes. A lot of the time they are near the bottom.

    1) Will there be better separation from the bottom and walleyes with this transducer?

    2) What benefit will I see mainly with this transducer?

    3) Can I run it close to the SI Solix Mega transducer or will it interfere?

    4) What is the Y cable part #?

    Thanks in advance

The purpose of the LowQ CHIRP transducer is for better 2D target separation.
No walleyes at any lakes I have tested the transducer.
A black background seems to show fish better than white where I have checked.

The 14 M SIDB Y cable the proper one. It can't interfere since the 2D in the SI transducer is disconnected and the added transducer is connected in its place. The DI crystal in the DI transducer is not connected.
Just can't have them against each other to block one side of SI.

    Thanks Wayne!

This looks like a pretty good idea for me. I am really really tempted as long as its simple

So buy the new transducer and buy the Y cable and mount it with current installed Solix 12 and mega transducer and that's it? Also Wayne do you happen to have pic of you mounted transducers?

Almost "that's it". You have to tell the unit you are using a different 2D transducer so it will use the proper 2D frequency--HB High CHIRP.

You don't want to have an installation like I have. The MEGA SI transducer is on a former transom trolling motor mount/shaft. I do that to extract it from the water when navigating in trees/stumps. The DI transducer is on a removable bar bolted to the transom that I use to test transducers. Last week that bar was in my den with the DI transducer connected to the SOLIX beside my desk.

Now the question is---is there enough room to mount it next to the Solix SI transducer?

That is close to how I do it except the SI transducer is lower since I can adjust mine.

Actually what I would do with your setup is put the DI transducer where the SI transducer is and the SI transducer where you have the DI marked.

About ready to mount the new transducer. I did switch locations as you suggested Wayne but, it just won't work for SI on my hull. In between the bunks and getting the best possible shots for SI...it has to stay where it is---also I am very happy with how my returns are currently. The new XM 14 20 MDI T is going to work really nice on that aluminum extension I think. Its ready to be mounted and i will snap a pic when finished tonight.

Also one more question....is it ok for transducer cables to be right next to each other all the way back to the unit. One on top of another or tie wrap to each other? Interference concerns?

What is your source for Depth when on plane?

The big Solix transducer. Good bottom reading up to 45 mph. It's solid.

I would rather have the new transducer lower but if I put SI on the aluminum bracket (higher)---the hull would block a good portion of the SI beam

Are you connecting the DI transducer and SI transducer together with the 14 M SIDB Y cable?

Yes. I am hoping that the new transducer will be low enough because i realize this is where the reading on plane now comes from..

An alternative is put the transducer in the same location on the other side of the outboard.

Thought about doing that as well---even bought another mounting board. If it doesn't work with there current plan after testing, this is the route I will go.

Ok I am still confused on the correct "Y"

There is HUM720103-1 Humminbird 14-M-Sidb-Y Mega Side Imaging And DualBeam Splitter Cable - 14 Pin

    and

    SM SIDBY | 720100-1

Which one is the correct one?

The current Y cable for a SOLIX is 14 M SIDB Y. Use that one.
The SM SIDB Y is not listed on the Humminbird site anymore--discontinued.

I got mine mounted on the boat. Paid $199 from Humminbird because that is currently the only choice.

yea im waiting on the trolling motor version not the transom
