In Search Of a Champion 202

Getting more serious about Tournaments and looking to move up from my 184.
I know what to look for as far as Transom and so forth.
What years should I be looking for, what years should I avoid?
If you have any leads or words of wisdom I’m all ears.
Looking in the Central Texas Area but would make a trip for the right deal. I like a darker blue berry color or black bottom boat. This may not matter as much though because I will probably due a gorilla Hull.
    Thank you,

‘95 is the unicorn. Hardest running champ ever built. A 3 liter motor will really carry the mail.

But....they added stringers in the front on later years to deal with some stress crack so if you see one they are cosmetic and not structural.

Unless you can find a bass n bay.

95 202 is a beast. My little bro used to have one with a 225 3 Liter and it was an animal fo sho.

But it did have quote a few stress cracks up front.......

Keep an eye on your local Craigslist & the Texas fishing forum. I would also add a 203 to your list.

I have a friend who has one coming up very soon. It is not a 95 I believe it is a 98? He owns a marine repair shop and just replaced the transom with a composite one that will NEVER rot. I think it has a 2011 Mercury 225 pro xs. If interested I will pass you on.

there was a guy on Texas Fishing Forum that had a 1990 190 model for cheap. like $2k it needed some work but the 190 is a great hull.
I had thought about buying it to work on and restore but the "better half" said 2 boats I already got was enough

Thank you all. Definitely let me know when something comes up. I appreciate it. Really would like the unicorn 1995 but if it’s a good deal I wouldn’t pass it up.

Don’t let me sway you too much
It’s not like a later model is some kind of mutt. It’s not. We’re talking about the difference between 75-76 vs 74-75.

Thanks for the information. Hopefully Looking at a 1997 202 elite tomorrow. What is the difference of the elite as opposed To DCB?

DCB means simply Dual Console Bass. It could be a DCB and an Elite at the same time. The designation DCB is not in the 97 brochure. The 97 brochure shows the model 202 in two categories, Elite and Tournament. The difference is simply in add-ons as standard in Elites and optional in Tournaments. In the Elite series, the designations are DCX and SCX. Dual and single console Elite. In the Tournament series, the designations are simply DC and SC. Hope this helps....

Doesn’t like pictures from my phone. I’ll have to try and upload some from the home computer
