    Mr. TOC, 2 questions.

If I get an Elite 198, like I'm planning to, can I get it with a Rapid Jack Magnum jackplate and is the Yamaha Sho shortage hitting Charger also? Just wondering.

Sho on backorder but will eventually come in.checking on rapid jack but I would think your dealer can install any brand.

Take a look at the new Merc 4 stroke too. Lighter than a SHO and supposedly faster

Thanks anyhow, but, I've had such great luck with last 3 Yamahas I've had there's no way I could leave them. But, if Merc. builds a 'bullet-proof' 4-stroke, they will give the SHO a run for their money. Maybe someday, if Yamaha ever burns me, I would consider a Merc. And besides, I would rather give it a year to get the 'bugs' worked out---like they ALL seem to have. Including Yamaha.

    Bob's jackplate.

So, while asking opinions, now that Bob's has their pump mounted INSIDE jackplate, I may even consider one, if you guys could convince me I need one. Never had hydraulic, always heard Bob's is the best-toughest-and most trouble free. Have always just adjusted manuals setting up engine height for best performance and leave it there. Never really fish shallow type lakes except for occasional trip to Fork. Would be cool to be able to fine tune for max performance in different water conditions. But, I am a mechanic, and if I learned anything in my life it is---more moving parts and wires equals more problems, usually. Fish mainly Beaver, Table Rock, and Grand. Now, tell me to just stick to manual. Thanks to all y'all for the opinions and advice.

Like Jim said its adjustable in a flick of a switch which gives flexibility in different conditions. You can also optimize performance while running. I am sure others will be along to comment as well.

Here are some videos by Sea Star on some of the advantages.
