The one that came with the boat had no mfg date and the model # did not look like anthing on the web site.
I e-mailed Ranger first to see if they had any info. They e-mailed me back with this.
We have received the below from Kidde:
If you receive consumer inquiries, please immediately direct them to contact Kidde at (855) 271-0773 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST Monday-Friday (excluding holidays), or between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the weekend to determine whether their extinguishers are affected. They may also visit www.Kidde.com.
They said it was not involved in the recall but being 13 yrs. old should replaced.

I went through the process. Finally got a new extinguisher. It was the wrong one. It was just the fire extinguisher with a mount but it didn't come with mounting screws (Not a big deal) or the strap that holds it to the mount. (Big deal).

I decided I'm not going to go chasing them down for the right one, shipping the replacement back then waiting again for another to arrive. I ended up putting the one they sent in the cup holder on the rear door of my pick up. Fit perfect and hey, I might need one there too someday. Meanwhile, I'll just go to the local Marine Supply store and buy a new one for the boat. They're not that expensive.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

Did mine online, had new and better unit in 3 weeks, metal nozzle, metal activation handle, gauge and 3 lb. instead of 2 lb. and came with pre-paid shipping label for return with FED-EX.

Did mine shortly after the recall came up on BBC. Got the new one, and shipped back the old one. Very easy. Just wished the notice came out a little sooner. I had already bought a replacement about a month before the notice. Guess I'll just leave one in the truck.

We had 8 of them replaced. Fairly painless process, I thought.
