    Question on power head swap..

    Anybody know the labor rate on a power head swap on 250 SHO...?

    Labor rate is dependent on the shop, look for 6-8hrs minimum.

    No...I still got some time left on mine...only 150 hours on it as well...one in question in an older sho out of warranty... Buddy of mine has done hpdi and 3.1s but never a long block sho.... Just wondered what the normal suggested rate was from Yamaha...if they even had one...

    All is needed is a base gasket to swap power heads. Obviously, all the electronics would have to be swapped over also. There was one for sale in motor parts section for very good price.

    Time will vary depending on exact job. If a failure occurs it's best to remove oil pan,clean and install new strainer while PH is removed. This could take a couple hours if no corrosion is present.

    That one has been real hard for me to ignore! A few hours work and someone could have a nice set up IF you can find a blown one with a good lower. CJ
