Just looking for information on batteries for the starting/livewell portion of the boat.
I know there are a lot of them out there, but which have you done the best with?
Thank you in advance for your help.

A lot of people love the Duracell agm batteries Sams sells. For something easier to get your hands on the group 29 Walmart batteries seem to be good. It's all my buddy has run in his boat for the past 10 years or so.

Treat others like you want to be treated when on the water EVEN WHEN IN A TOURNAMENT! No fish is worth having a confrontation because you cut someone off or came in on top of someone.
I run a Duracell(East Penn) Commercial, 31 group flooded battery for starting and accessories on my boat because its got lots of cranking amps, can be used with a stator charging system, and runs the pumps and electronics for days. I got mine at batteries plus for $100 but they're available lots of places (like Sams Club) and under different names.

I also have done well with a Deka commercial 31 series like the one linked above. If I were to go AGM, it would be with Northstar/X2 from Batteries Plus.
Be sure and take into consideration your outboard and accessory requirements as well as charger compatibility

I just picked up an Everstart Maxx DC29 with a RC of 210 for cheap money $99 at Walmart can't beat it for the price have heard good things about them 2 year warranty and there are Walmarts just about anywhere I fish so should be no problem if anything happens

go with the northstar 31 series agm, best move I ever made. Yes its expensive 375$, but not as expensive as the difference of not getting back to weigh-in vs 3rd and a 1600$ check......lesson learned
Cat makes deep cycle batteries. Im really happy with mine.

A lot of people here are suggesting a deep cycle battery for a starting battery for the OP. Only certain outboards can use a cycling battery for starting, and they would have low cca requirements. As well, certain outboards shouldn't use AGM's. If the OP would tell us what his outboard is or what his cca cranking requirements are, we could make more informed suggestions for him.

We have an East Penn warehouse here. They make Bass Pro and DEKA AGM batteries. They have a pallet of group 31 AGM that had the lead posts sheared off and only have the threaded posts so they are blems. Sell them for $100 each and I have had four in my boat for the last three years with no issues. I have a 250 Merc EFI and never any issues.
How about for a 98 Mercury 175EFI? AGM?
