    Marine grade USB port ?

    looking for suggestions -
    going to replace the 12 volt cigarette lighter type receptacle with a like sized USB port suitable for marine use.

    Marine use doesn't mean much. I have one with two USB outlets installed inside my glove box to keep my phone on charge and it has the rubber grommet plug to cover it. If you mount it somewhere thats not waterproof, and you plug a cable in it, it's susceptible to water intrusion.

    Ebay has thousands of options for just a few bucks. I put one on my boat off Ebay last year that has worked fine.

    Exactly, but at least don't replace the 12v receptacle. You may have need to run a spotlight or such device at some time. You can just mount the USB receptacle right next to it and run it off the same wiring.

    Because it quit working and EVERYTHING I have nowadays is USB.
    And my boat has built in headlights...
