Coming off pad w/o the wave

I read a post awhile back before I took delivery of this new rig with PP's about water coming over. I can't find it, so re-posting. I am well schooled in how to come down normally so as to prevent the wave from coming over onto the deck of our ass heavy boats. But these poles seem to be a new challenge. No matter how slow I come down, or give a little extra throttle; there is a shot of water that comes up and lands on the deck. I think it may be coming up through the bracket?

    1. What am I doing wrong?

    2. Is no one making a little plate that will cover the bottom side of the PP bracket like on the bottom of a jackplate?

Tilt the motor DOWN all the way, throttle back, then just as the boat starts to set, give it a little throttle. It's kind of a timing thing, lol !!

From precious, extensive threads on the same topic, this ^ seems like the best approach. Just keep in mind that with the installation of poles, they all sit a little lower in the stern than without poles, so it may take some effort on the operator’s part to keep the splash at bay. My 520c I had last year, with dual poles, never took on more than a few drops as long as I followed the advice above.

I have the unbraced version it's not any better. If you are looking to fix it the real deal is to change to a bracket with less offset.

JC and others; I completely get and am well schooled in "the wave". It's not the wave coming over; it's more like a tiny gremlin hiding in the Atlas that just shoots a water blaster up on the deck to the left and right side. I'm seeing an business opportunity here. Small lightweight bottom cover plate that will let water drain out similar to the bottom of Bob's and Atlas plates????

Any of you machinists out there? I might be a great R&D guy???

I’ll give you props on the idea. As popular as power poles are, anything that alleviates the drawbacks would be money in the bank.

Mick -- Here is a thread I started that I think you may find helpful...http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....257&highlight=

Also, here is a pick of my PP's initially on S-2-6 brackets mounted in the back JP holes and then a pic now of my PP's on S-2-2 brackets on the front JP holes. It made a WORLD of difference in eliminating the wave pool on my back deck. Like lit7erally I can now kill the throttle at 70 and just let the boat sit down on its own and no water comes up on my back deck.

    Question

would it be better to have brackets set lower on jack plate or highest?

As you can see from my pics above, I have the brackets flush with the top of the JP which seems to give me the right balance of not pushing water on deck when coming off plane and not adding additional drag when coming out the hole.

i took the xtra brace off my 2017 z520c pp brackets ( 2-6 brackets ) the spray on the back deck is better , but still exists . thats with top of bracket flush with top of the atlas. its easier to manage the spray w/o the brace. gonna try raising the brackets as high as i can , to see if that fixes the problem...
