2 - Units on the dash

So I currently have one 998C SI on my dash of my boat. My question is, what do I need to add a second unit on the dash so that i dual units? Is there any special equipment. Is there any reason why they can't be different units? For example. Can I purchase a 997cSi and have that with my 998C SI on the dash?

You can do that and use one for mapping only and the other for sonar. At a minimum you would need a GPS antenna for the mapping unit and only have one transducer on the transom due to cross-talk.

If you get another 998 or newer unit, you can share a transducer and GPS antenna via Ethernet and won't have interference issues.

+1 Probably will be happier with another Ethernet capable unit. Don't forget to turn SONAR off on the unit that doesn't have transducer connected if you go that route.

Yes if you can find one----- AS SYSLINK.
The other alternative is another discontinued accessory-----AS INTERLINK.
