Why do the new boats have black hulls now days?

I’ve been looking at new boats lately, comparing brands and so on. Thinking of buying new next year. I know you can order your own color. But I’ve notice most, if not all packages have black hulls. I still like white. I was just wanting to know the reasoning?

Been like that for about 7-8 years. I'm personally not a fan of a black hull not that it's ugly black just does not go well with stumps and rocks. I much prefer white, light grey, grey, and dark grey.

My 1996 BassMaster bass boat had a black hull, and my 2006 ARIES does as well. My 1980 something Bayliner had white, 1996 Stratos did as well. Would think you could alway find different colors.

A lot of boats have black hulls, but there are many different color options. I personally like the black hull, but I've had them with white and gray hulls as well.

I agree, its a trend. Black is the "it thing" Black is the new chrome (for wheels that is). I remember when you could only get black wheels on a lower end truck such as a Ford XL or a chevy Cheyenne work truck (W/T). It seems everyone wants to black everything out. Im not a fan of black or in the case black hulls, even though my boat has one.

Triton 19 XS Elite, 225 Mercury Pro XS, Minn Kota Ultrex 112, Hydrowave H2, Twin 8' Power Pole Blades, Power Pole CHARGE, Lowrance HDS 12 and 16 at console, Lowrance HDS 9, Garmin LiveScope at bow, Mercmonitor, Rigid Industries Deck lights and other stuff to come that will make me go more broke

I think black just looks better. The best color is grey. I had that on a nitro and it was so much easier to keep looking good. Doesn't show water lines like white and doesn't show scratches like black. I almost got it on this boat but went black. It looks good but I think I may go grey on the next one, if I get another one

I have had black hauls since 1987 . Skeeter starfire. I prefer the black hauls 6 so far . I’m not a fan of black wheels they always look dirty and cheap. Looks like Walmart spray paint can look to me.

I would not have a boat without a black hull or with plain white anywhere on it.

I think the big reason you're seeing fewer white hulls is people not wanting to deal with cleaning scum lines off of them. I agree about scratches showing up on the darker hulls and realize that scum lines show on black hulls as well, though I'd argue it's easier to remove them with just a wipe down where white hulls often require a special acidic cleaner to remove them. Give and take, I suppose!

You could ask the same question about cowlings on outboards.

Black hides the stress cracks better. With lighter colored hulls once dirt & grime get in the cracks it's pretty easy to see.

I have had black hulls for last 12-14 years. If it's a trend it's a long trend. I have a place on Fork which is full of stumps and it does not mess up my boat anymore than it would any other color.
