    Heading puck

anyone put the heading puck under the dash or in one of the rod boxes?
I figure it’s like a flux valve on an airplane, only Bluetooth.
so if it gets Bluetooth and is mounted flat and parallel should work?

I heard someone put it inside the bow panel. I would try it, if it don't work then find a spot with line of sight. Good luck.
Sorry are we talking point1? if so I believe that needs to be above deck.

Point 1s work fine below deck, as long as everything else is correctly set up.

If you're talking heading sensor for the MinnKota trolling motors, it needs to have a clean line of sight to the trolling motor top. I don't believe under the deck qualifies.

My Cat had a cup holder at the bow that I never used. I shaped a piece of plastic, used 2 sided tape to adhere the plastic to the rim of the cup holder, and screwed the sensor to the plastic. The cup holder even had a hole for drainage that I used to run the power wire to the bow for connection.

what is the thing? How does it work? I just hung mine under the dash to start and see if it works. I have enough wire to mess around with it and see what it can and can’t do.

It is a heading sensor, not a gps puck as many think. It has nothing to do with gps. As a heading sensor, it is an electronic compass that communicates with the controller (top of trollingmotor) through bluetooth. It is used to determine the boat direction in order for the trolling motor to perform the jog function and, if equipped with IPilot link, a circle function. It also enhances the spot lock by giving the trolling motor direction. Per MinnKota, it should be mounted with a clean line of sight to the trolling motor and in an area that doesn't have any magnetic interference.

Is the jog function only available with the link option?

Is it imperative that this compass be mounted on a horizontal surface? I have room to mount on bow plate of my Ranger but it has approximately 20 degrees of slope. This would prevent me from having to drill holes in the deck over the carpet occupying fishing rod space or on top of the forward deck on the metal flake surface where I step to board. Thank you for any and all responses.

No...it's available on both Ipilot and Ipilot/Link. Can initiate from remote. Link adds additional capabilities/features when networking with Humminbird capable units.
