I've wrestled with that question a time or two. I've always come back to the fact that a new boat can't do anything my 17 year old boat can't do. I just upgrade my electronics when something good comes along.

A new Vexus with 3 16" Carbons, Ultrex, Talons.

If it was me, I'd just get new graphs.

I had this conversation with a friend about his older Ranger. Your engine is barely broke in. Open up all the compartments and look around. Are there things you wish were different on your boat that you really prefer about the new boats. The electronics cost the same no matter which boat you decide to put them on. What we did with his boat was to purchase a really nice new set of electronics, a new rolling motor, 3 brand new high capacity batteries, a brand new 3 bank charger and a few other minor tweaks and he was done. He added 2 power poles and all the goodies needed, but he used mounts to fit his jack plate. All this added up to a lot of coin, but no more than they would have if they were put on the new hull. The total was less than several years worth of payments that he would have been making on the new boat. You will probably lose 1/2 of what you spent on your old boat by selling it outright. Just a thought.

If you boat was a 2000 year model I’d say buy a new boat. (Mine is a 2001). But since yours is what I would consider still new, I would just buy the graphs.

If you buy a new boat you are STILL going to pay for newer Electronics.
It's not like they just throw them in with the new boat for free!

I’d take that old, beat up project boat off your hands for $3k. I’m not really a Skeeter person but if the price was right.....

Never said it was a beater boat. It's an amazing boat and I'm very thankful for having it. I also have worked my ass off to own it and pay it off. I know I'm looking at a minimum investment of 10k for what I want. Just trying to figure out what the best value is for my money spent. Put a 4 in front of your 3 and I'll consider your offer.

If you wanted another brand of boat I’d consider a new boat. To just update to the newest you already have I’d say save unless you are dead set on new and want that warranty

I saw a dealer unloading a new 17 fx20 for 64 and also a Ranger dealer unloading a 17 520c for 64k...if your boat is worth around 40ish maybe a new one that comes with full warranty is a good way to go!
