Question Tempest 23 or 25 HELP

I have a 2004 187cx with a 175hp Yamaha. Need my fellow Champ owners advice on a new prop. The current one believe it or not has nothing on it. So I want to put on a new prop and use the current one as a spare. My top end seems a little slow. I had the engine checked out and everything seems to be fine. I have a manual jackplate. What would you recommend ? Thanks in advance I'm always amazed with the amount of good advice coming

What is your prop to pad measurement? Top speed? RPMs at top? How is the boat loaded? Weight of you and passenger? So many factors to consider.....

I would look at a 25p M series or T1 Yamaha. If a 25p is a little much you can have a good prop guy turn it down to a 24.5-24 and do a blue print/balance. Mark Croxton in Shelbyville IN does great work.

    M is a good prop.
T1 would not be a good choice.

Merc props come in almost all pitches so you could get a temptest 24. When I had a Yamaha I never had any issues with the 25m prop that came with it, they seem like good props.

T1 is going to have too big of a diameter to run on the little 175 vs something with big L like a 225-250 HPDI.
the M would be a good place to start
