What should I see for water temperature on a 2009 Pro XS 250? After warm-up and a little running seeing 66 idle, 80 running 40 mph at 3700 rpm. Water temperature is 50. Using smart craft gauges. Air temp mid 50's.
Thanks.

120* minimum at idle. You have an issue with a thermostat... should probably get it in right away or go to the FAQ if you wanna try cleaning them yourself.

The running on plane temperature will always vary. The important temperature to achieve is 120*-135* at idle, when first starting the motor.
Sounds like you have a T-stat stuck open.
Was fishing this past week in 50-55 degree water - air temps from 35--70
normal operating temps on mine while on plane was 118-125..
I watch mine like a Hawk, already cold seized one due to a stuck T-stat--- Don't want another.
Mine will get to 130-131 F then stabilize 123-127. On plane with water in the 40s it will go all the way down to low 80s high 70s.
Thanks for the info. Was going to drop it at the shop for the annual maintenance so just added it to the list.
These motors need 125-135 temps, especially on initial start up. Not as important running or re-cranking after everything has heated equally.
Speed cost money. How fast ya wanna go? I have done so much for so long with so little. I can now do the impossible with nothing!
