    Ulterra foot pedal cable?

The electric cable that comes on the pedal is 17' 6". That is the length of my boat. Thought that is what the remote is for. To control it from the back of the boat. Sits in recessed tray up front. Would like to shorten it but don't really want to cut and splice it but am a bit afraid of taking the pedal apart to re solder it inside as I know there are springs inside. Anyone done this or any advice?

The cable comes with enough cable to move it around anywhere in the boat. You can also unplug the footpedal if you don't want to use it and just use the remote. don't cut and splice the cable.

I just ran my excess cable under the front deck out of the way.
