You will have to inspect the pump first, in order to tell what needs replacing? No other way around it.
When you change the impeller, and or water pump, take a Sharpie and mark the date you changed on the inside of the cowl.

I usually get the whole kit including housing. If the removed housing is good, as they are many times, I'll just save it and next time just get the soft parts.
Speed cost money. How fast ya wanna go? I have done so much for so long with so little. I can now do the impossible with nothing!

Water pump should be replaced at least ANNUALLY, so it shouldn't be too hard to remember if it's being done with Annual Maintenance.
If you do not need the housing, use Part# 8M0100526 (complete kit WITHOUT housing).
