    Treating My Nitro Boat Cover

I have the factory boat cover that came with my 2016 Z21. The cover is about as water resistant as a paper towel. If it rains, all of the carpet and seats in my boat are wet. I guess it needs to have some sort of water proofing treatment applied. Any suggestions on what I can use to make the cover useful?

The cover that came with my 2016 Z18 was extremely water proof. It would actually hold water in the folds for days at a time without leaking.

I bought some 303 fabric guard to try, have not had the opportunity to see if it works

I wouldn't be afraid to put that 303 in a pump sprayer and hit the cover. What harm could it do? Your cover already sounds sketchy at best.

Do you have a picture of your cover? Who was the manufacturer?

I don’t have a pic. It’s the factory cover made by Dowco. It’s a two tone ratchet cover.

I called Dowco. They have a 5 year warranty, but it only applies to the original owner. I am the second owner so the warranty is worthless.

Not sure how I could heat it. It sat in sun on 105 degree days last year and it is mostly a black cover, so that was pretty hot. I bought a gallon of fabric guard water proofing spray. I just need some warmer temps and a windless day to apply the spray. If that does not work, I will trash the Dowco cover and have a better cover built.
