I use a spinning rod for light crankbaits. Not worth the hassle to throw them in casting equipment.

Ditto. If you happened to watch the MLF over the weekend you might notice when the rubber meets the road, the "Pros" use them a lot. I do, especially in the Winter throwing small crankbaits.

Cashion rods makes a bait caster rod that will throw small cranks . Great for cranks in the 1.0 range with 10 lbs line

I'll probably get flamed for this but a long medium action Ugly Stik spinning rod would make a great small crankbait rod on the cheap and indestructible too. I normally hate those rods but do feel they have their place for certain things...

6' 10" Rage MLF spinning rod with a Pflueger Supreme reel with 8# or 10# FC for really light cranks like Shad Raps, or crappie crankbaits. Anything heavier than that and I use a 7' Avid MM baitcasting rod and a Pflueger Patriach with 12# Sniper FC.

I have a Gen 1 veritas 7' medium crankbait rod that is great up to about a 3xd. but the light stuff is where it REALLY shines. great underrated rod.

I use a zebco bullet reel because I suck at throwing a spinning reel.

I use an old Powell Max 702cb glass with a Chronarch 51Mg. No problem throwing 1/8oz speed traps

I've got a medium action TFO rod that has a really light tip on it. I'm going to try small cranks on it this year because it feels perfect for it.

I use an Abu Garcia Vengeance rod...medium action. Can get them for around 40 bucks. I can throw some really light cranks with it, and have landed bass up to 8 lbs with it, no problem. I do not mind using a spinning rod, but I just feel like I have a little more control with the baitcaster, maybe it's just me.

I use a 7ft medium Duckett Ghost series cranking rod. I can throw a Strike King 1.0, shad rap, 1/4 oz lipless crankbait, and in the summer I use it as my small Pop R rod.

I use either spinning or a medium light st croix premier casting rod, depending on what I'm throwing.

I second the Ghost rods. Only things I don't like is the extra long handle. I just cut one to see how that works out.
