How is the bite at Lake Fork?

My wife is off next weekend and we had been planning to drive down and fish. I know the forecast is calling for some showers but other than that, how is the fishing? Are they starting to think about moving up or still holding on winter patterns? Thank y'all.

I was in central Texas this weekend and water temp was 56, Fork being north I'd bet it's a little cooler there, I think your too early.

That's what I'm afraid of but it may be my only shot. I'm really on the fence about it lol.

Does Bass Champs draw a ton of boats? It's going to be hard to get away from tournaments on Fork, isn't it?

They will probably have 200 or more I'd assume, problem is trying to find a place to stay. That amount of boats is a drop in the bucket to the skeeter owners or mega bass. Would I go? No, I thinks it's early but on that lake all it takes is one cast.

Edit: just looked at the champs results from last year in April and they had 214 boats

Thanks TritonMan. I'm going to look at my calendar and see if I can squeeze in a weekend trip a little later in March maybe.

If you do end up coming to Fork, try driving about an hour east to Lake Welsh. It's a power plant lake, fairly small, with a ton of hydrilla. Fishing has been excellent and all stages of the spawn.

Lots of rain, lots of full lakes.

Fork is going to be more than tough for the Champs event. Gates are open at Fork as of now.

I can catch 'em better in my bathtub than when the gates are open at Fork..............

Terrible idea. Welsh has no grass and no fish.

I live local to Fork and we have received almost 10 inches of rain this past week. It will be muddy through March now. :)
