    Opinions on New Purchase

I scrolled through many pages of threads but didn’t find much info on some questions I have before trading in my ‘13 Z520c. Hoping to get some answers from this group.
    1. First one is would you guys buy a dual console boat and let the dealership remove it to get the boat in the colors you want but in single console or would you order and have the 3-4 month wait on new? Will it look factory single console when they are finished?
    2. Thinking about moving up to a 521c to get the smoother ride, but will I miss the width up front of the 520? Which one has a drier ride?
    3. Anyone that bought a predominately black boat regret it? Not worried about it being hot, the inside is all silver. Just wondering if the dirt/grime is that much worse. Does it show scratches worse than say silver?

I appreciate any and all comments.

Welcome to BBC. If you're paying top dollar for your boat I would get the one I wanted. You will always feel like you "settled" if you spend all that money just to have work done on a boat to make it the boat you originally wanted. I've had a black boat. They're gorgeous when they're clean but upkeep on a black boat is constant. I would not own another black boat. The heat never bothered me, the upkeep was a different story.

I second the get what you want advice..especially if you have a boat while your waiting.

I've spent alot of time in both the 520 and 521...without a doubt if ride is important to you, get the 21, theres plenty of room on the front of a Z521c.

Most of the inside hull of my boat is black...can't say I notice any difference in any other boat I've had.

Bottom line to me...get what YOU want.

The dual console is an additional cost to the boat price, so I wouldn't pay for the additional dual console and then have it tore out and hope the finish looked right. I would order what I wanted and be patient. The dual console is nice and in a boat over 20-feet it does not seem to be in the way of rods on the deck. But if you like a single console you could shop around and find one in stock or order one.

Good point about dual consoles in 20 and 21 foot boats. The Z520 easily accommodates 8 foot rods on the front deck, so that second console is no issue at all in that sense. However, if you are dead set on single, no way would I pay $780 extra, only to remove it. Personally, I don’t like black boats (other than sitting at home in the driveway, where they look great) for the simple reason of water spots, which they show immensely. I love the look of white boats, but will never have another one for the same reason: they show everything. I will admit to getting old and conservative in my views, though.

It seems we are pulling Port consoles out of new Ranger’s at least a couple of times per month at our dealership for our customers. Once it’s removed you cannot tell it was ever there. We happen to have the luxury of having a factory authorized fiberglass repair shop on site and attached to our building, they are the ones that do the removal so in the event that something doesn’t look perfect it is repaired right on the spot.

As far as colors, I own a white boat and a black boat. Both show scum lines, water spots, road grime, fish slime, and whatever else gets on the boat. Both require care to keep them looking good. Like others have said, get what you want and don’t look back. If you don’t like to clean your boat then either silver or mica shows less dirt and grime from a distance.

I am sure that you will be taking very good care of your new rig and will be cleaning it no matter what color it is.

I would order the boat you really want and in the colors you want.

Patience is your friend here. Do the custom order for your rig.

My boat is black with silver inside. I just wipe it down after loading. Every 3 or 4 times I use Lucas Slick Mist and it is beautiful again. My Pro XS is .black and my poles are black. No more trouble than any other color and they are sharp

As far as width goes, aren't we debating like a couple of inches maybe? I honestly can't tell the difference between a 520 and my 521 in width but I can in length.. Mine is black and silver with red lines, I think its a happy medium..
