    gas question

posted this in lounge but I found some non ethynol 90 and got 5 gallons to try. I understand 87 is the preferred rating for octane, what are your thoughts on this ?

Non ethanol is just that >"Non Ethanol"
Has nothing to due with Octane rating.
Go by the manufacture rating for your motor on Octane.
I run only Rec.90 fuel in my Yamaha that requires minimum 86 octane.
Like others, I have seen what corn juice can do to outboards.

Since I can’t find a reliable source of non-ethanol I follow my long time (30 plus years) mechanics strong recommendation to use 89 octane and add Stabil.

Since doing this for over 15 years never have had any problems related to fuel/carbureatur.

guess as long as it's available I'll use the non ethynol. Seems to be all kinds of theories out there. Thanks for the input

Do not know what part of Citrus county you are in , so I posted some stations throughout the county that have lower than 90. I use the 89 myself.

I went non-ethanol 10 plus years ago and have spent zero on engine maintenance besides scheduled. With that, I run salt away through after every trip. And this is deploying a bunch with an idol engine several months.
