I have a Helix 7 that I will be putting on my boat. I currently have a Lowrance 5HDI on my console. I'm thinking it would be better to have the Helix 7 on my console and the Lowrance 5HDI on the bow. Have any of you guys had any experience or location preference of a set up like this? Any and all suggestions welcomed.
Which one of the 15 models of Helix 7?

I think it's the GPS mapping Helix 7; it may have a port for a down imaging transducerI believe.
If you have a DI model, it is the same as your HDI unit.
You do not know what transducer you have???????

I haven't gotten it yet. I got this unit from a guy who traded in a pontoon boat and once they pull it out of the water, he's getting me the power cord and transducer. It is my understanding that it has GPS mapping with Lakemaster card for sure, but I think I can also run a down imaging type transducer off the TM. All this is new to me. I'm going from a 1989 Stratos 201 with a built in flasher in the dash to these electronics and I'm just learning about what they will do.
