    250 ProXS and 250 SportXS

These two engines are exactly the same except for the gear case? Thoughts?

Here is a good read. It's been posted recently but couldn't find it.

So if the Sport XS is built on the production line like the Pro XS, is the 300 XS hand built now or a production line motor?

Yeah Rebel1 that's a good question. I dont think Mercury Racing builds any consumer engines anymore. I did the research when I was looking at buying a 250 sport XS. I find different PCM part numbers. I find different motor mount part numbers. I find different exhaust adapter part numbers. Different lower units. With all that it hard for me to say these engines are basically the same

Low water pickup and 2 years factory warranty can be extended up to 5 or 7 years.

Pro XS comes standard with 3 years. You can now buy up to 5 additional years for a total of 8.

Sport XS comes standard with 2 years. You can now buy up to 3 for a total of 5.

When I priced 3 additional years for my 300xs, it was $6,000!

The Pro XS and Sport XS power heads are the same from the top of the adapter plate up.
As stated above, the adapter plate is different with the plate and mounts being all a one piece cast.

Just the Sportmasters are all I've seen.

Mercury said that the Gen 2 Torquemasters were going to come with the racing lube also, (This was a year or two ago when the they started using racing lube in the SM units) but all new ones I have seen out of the box or on engines still have Hi-perf lube.
