These two engines are exactly the same except for the gear case? Thoughts?

Kevin.. I'd suspect you know more about this than most no?
Allison XB21 Prosport Mercury Racing 250XS with a 1.75 Sporty
Just checking if what I think I know about this subject is correct.
Didn't the sports xs have always come with solid mounts and have a higher limiter? and the sporty?
xb-21 prosport 225 pro xs
Different amounts for sure which are integrated into mounting plate of
XS, my props was upgraded to this adapter plate by Lee
Here is a good read. It's been posted recently but couldn't find it.

So if the Sport XS is built on the production line like the Pro XS, is the 300 XS hand built now or a production line motor?
Yeah Rebel1 that's a good question. I dont think Mercury Racing builds any consumer engines anymore. I did the research when I was looking at buying a 250 sport XS. I find different PCM part numbers. I find different motor mount part numbers. I find different exhaust adapter part numbers. Different lower units. With all that it hard for me to say these engines are basically the same
Exactly correct hooken. They are not exactly the same only very similar.
does anybody know if the Pro XS gen2 comes with the low water pickup and what the warranty is for that?
Low water pickup and 2 years factory warranty can be extended up to 5 or 7 years.

The Pro XS and Sport XS power heads are the same from the top of the adapter plate up.
As stated above, the adapter plate is different with the plate and mounts being all a one piece cast.
Lee, do all of the gear cases come with the amber gear lube now?
Just the Sportmasters are all I've seen.
Mercury said that the Gen 2 Torquemasters were going to come with the racing lube also, (This was a year or two ago when the they started using racing lube in the SM units) but all new ones I have seen out of the box or on engines still have Hi-perf lube.
