First thing I'd do is take a small screwdriver and give the pole select switch a few turns back and forth. Then return it to the original setting and see if that helps. May just be a bit of corrosion on the contacts. If that doesn't get it you'll have to have it compared to the results of a computer running EVdiags. That way you'll know for sure.
If I hooked it to my Humminbird unit with the names would that show accurate

So is the tach on this engine worked by the computer or regulator like the older ones ...not sure that regulator is right....but if someone could tell me how it works I would appreciate it....

Mine jumped up about 400 Rpm over where is usually is. Trimed out and WAO I have always
run at about 5600 max. I don’t think I could make it go over that. Today I looked at it
and it was showing 6000. 2005 Etec200ho. Never felt the limiter. Could it be the same fix?

My dfi was doing the erratic tach thing, I found a loose wire on the back of the tach.
