    150 4 stroke Alternator question.

    Serial: 2B174116

lost output voltage today on alternator. Only 12.1 VDC output same as charge on battery.

The 2 wire plug (red & red/white stripe) going to alternator I have 12.1 vdc across to alternator when the ignition switch is off. If I turn the ignition “on” (engine not running) I have 0 VDC. Not sure if I am supposed 12v on that plug when power is on?

With engine running, I have 12.8 on red to ground, and 12.8 on red/white to ground. 0 across.

99% sure at this point it’s alternator. Bought new battery, had 12.4 Volts new with out engine running, at idle I dropped to 12.2, use trim I dropped to 11.9, and at WOT throttle only 12.8 high reading, was a 1/2 mike run, pulled engine cover, alternator was very hot, the exhaust manifold was still cool as was the block.
