During the BFL today, I hit a treetop just under the water while running down the lake (lake 10-15ft low and I was in the channel). My prop and propshaft are bent. What is this gonna cost me to get fixed.

Whatever your insurance deductible is. If the shaft is very bent and they don't replace the gear set when they do the lower, you'll be filing a supplemental claim after 30 hours of running or so.

Great advice! Definitely turn this into your insurance. There is no way to tell how much damage is done, until the gearcase is disassembled and thoroughly inspected $$$
If the have to replace the lower unit... Don't let them go with sei please... Some folks have good luck with them but I think the majority have not...

Better have insurance that allows you to fish bass tournaments... Not all policies allow that... Dan
Dang Sam, hate that for you. Good advice has already been given, so all I can add is good luck.

Two wrongs don't make a right , but three lefts do.
If it is just the prop and prop shaft, about $1500 would be my guess.
Just did mine... About 2k. Although I had the prop cleaned up and a skeg welded on as well.

Bent the prop shaft on my SHO last spring and it was around $2000 with the new T2 Yamaha prop.. Now I can't remember the price when I had the 3.1 lower estimate and my mechanic went with the sei lower... That was his first experience with sei and I think he used them for two other guys and with all my troubles he'd fight with insurance companies and reps that wanted to use the cheaper sei lowers instead of fixing the originals... Because the sei units were so unpredictable..

Well.... unfortunately due to lack of funds over the past two years I've had liability only on my boat (school, work, etc). I was going to add back full coverage next month when time to renew. Not sure what I'm going to do, as I have already put a LU on one motor and then a new motor on this 2001 boat. Not sure I want to dump in another 5k.
Although SEI gets a bad rap, not all their lowers are junk. They have a 2 year no fault warranty I believe, so it would be a more affordable option for you.

Then SEI might be your only and best option... Good luck... Dan
Jesus, don’t think the worst like most. Just bent prop shaft, 300 bucks and some prop work should have you back after about 500 bucks. That’s best case scenario..... worst would be lower and prop...
What does SEI MEAN?
Aftermarket lower unit... Dan
