    I suppose that will work...

Finally got to spend some trigger time with my new Savage model 11 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Shooting Hornady 143 grain ELD-X factory ammo. Every Savage I’ve owned has shot well, and this one is no exception.

I’ll get out my calipers later and measure to see what the group actually is. Well under MOA for certain.

    Nice.

Savage makes a great-shooting rifle for sure. The best group I've ever put on paper came out of a buddy's Model 110 in .223... Standard rifle (not heavy-barrel predator version) and prior to the accu-trigger... Single ragged hole @ 100 yds.

Tried, but couldn't talk him out of the rifle.

It would seem that it has to be more than .528”.

I was under the impression that it should be measured furthest outside edge to outside edge. No wonder my guns won't shoot.

Center to center is the standard. That takes the bullet diameter out of the equation. Here is a good write up from Winchester on the subject:

Never owned a Savage but it looks like yours is doing a pretty good job. Have sighted in a few over the years for some guys and getting the right ammo/bullets was the key for each rifle.

I've had one Savage rifle that wouldn't shoot, and they replaced the barrel. It's a model 16 in 260 Remington. This spring I'll start working on load work and see if it'll shoot. I have a mdl 12 Fvss in 22-250 that will put 5 in one ragged hole at 100 yards. Last year I killed 9 ground hogs that were from 420-470 yards and killed one last week at 391. My BTVLSS in 22 rimfire is a shooter too.

What do you mean by wouldn't shoot? How bad were the groups? I have a FV 12 in .223 that I don't think shoots that well. An average group is about 1-1/2 to 2 inches, at 100 yds. That's with hand loads and factory.

If you measure outside edge to outside edge (which is a more accurate way to measure) you need to subtract the bullet diameter.

Brian I hunt with a savage 110 .30-06. Been using that rifle for over 20 years, it still shoots a great group even with cheaper ammo.
To the op, that’s a good group and I like that creedmore.

It's not a benchrest rifle...if I have to shoot 5 times (or even twice) at game, I'm doing something way wrong...

If you had to shoot at it 3 times you would be doing something wrong.
