    Fish & ski speeds

In general, what kinds of speeds are people seeing out of the different models of fish n skis? Anybody run over 70-75? I honestly don't know much about them. I did ride in a Coral Viper once, seemed like a pretty nice boat, ran into the 60s with a 200 on it. Saw a nice fish n ski at the fishing show the other day and it sure looked nice, can't remember what brand, but had a pretty decent layout. Thanks!

I wish I could see those speeds. I have a 2014 z7 sport that I'm trying to dial in now. I have it powered with a 4 stroke 150 and I'm trying various props to see if I can get over 55 mph. Mechanics suggest a 10" plate vs my 8" and a 4 blade prop. Going run it with him this week see what we can come up with.

93.7 is the best so far with 250 xs. With a topend setup , and runs mid 80s loaded up with a conservative/all around setup.

    Boat is Allison XB21 2+2

I have been 75 with 7 aboard as well.

I run 64 in my 2000 Javelin Renegade 20 F/S. Has the stock 4 blade prop on a Evinrude Ficht 225. Haven't really worried about going any faster at this point. I'm sure I could gain a few more mph if I cared to dial in a different prop.

68 mph running a 10 inch plate and a Yamaha 25T1 at 5700 rpm's. Prop sits 2.5 below pad. Was getting 70 prior to putting on a fortrex 112 and putting in 4 gel cells (3 Oddyssey Trolling Thunders). Lots more weight.

    I think the Cobra 202 with a 225 and 250 can run over 70.

2008 Ranger Reata 2050 and I can hit 54 with a 4 blade prop, and 57-58 with a 3 blade. No plate, both props were croxtonized.

Those of you getting high 60's would be awesome.

Glad you posted the actual gps screen with the speed. That way we know you are accurate.

Cant always trust max recall on a GPS. I have had several " a few max recall speeds notably higher than they should be, that don't jive with the real world....

90mph ready to fish with livewells full of water.

But typical f&s numbers for normal boats are more like 50mph for 18fters and 60mph for 21’s. Those are starting points that can vary up or down depending on load, prop, motor height etc.

65-66 with full fishing load and just me. 63-64 with a fishing partner and their tackle. No jack plate of any kind. I'm happy with that, but rarely crank it up. I generally drive it in the 30-40mph range.

70 is a tall order on most fish ski's. With a chipped verado I'm sure I could run 70 loaded . I've been passed by Lund pro v chipped on take off .very close to 70 that tinner was running

With motor raised I can run 67's half fuel , and a little bit of gear. But setup like that it cant handle weight. And have to trim up slowly or it it won't stay hooked up.. So I usually run motor burried. And lose a few mph . runs 64ish handles awesome a little lower. And not as weight sensitive. 4 guys full fuel I'm still seeing 63 if load is balanced.
I mounted a talon didn't really hurt anything for speed.

    I'm spinning a 24 trophy

I have a bravo xs with 8 pvs holes that I love. 3 sec hole shot and low 80s before I hit the rev limiter. Trophy Plus on my boat absolutely sucked. Old school Bravo 1 with no pvs holes was a dog also. My ride needs ventilation for holeshot.

Haven't tried Bravo. I understand holeshot will be better. But cant see it outrunning my trophy. Holeshot already great.. 4 adults no problem .

Tried tempest.rev4, fury, . And some cheaper props. Still have my high 5 for really rough days or towing
