Miami boat show and new 4 stroke motors

Looks like merc finally has a new competative 4 stk to the SHO. Mostlikely, with some of the same technology. The only update to the sho 4.2L i noticed is a 25" shaft model for taller transoms...disappointing. Oh well, maybe next year Yamaha will step up the game once more and leave competitors chasing again.

Did you look on the Merc forum. 175-225 only with 3.4 liter block and a little lighter then the SHO. Ugly as all get out!

I still think they are going to need to release another version ("Pro XS") with more displacement to compete with the SHO

What can yamaha do to really up the game? The SHO is a beast and really taking over the market down here. I think the SHO has a few more years before it needs updated.

Not much that can be done except increasing fuel efficiency. They should probably add the option for electronic controls since the evinrude and merc have them. Performance is pretty much capped because of the hp restriction but they could tweak the lower unit design to get a few more mph on the top end

Electronic controls might be nice. Being able to switch from the hot foot to the gear shifter would be nice on long runs. They could update their gauges to show better info, as in actual number values.

I'd like to see improvement in the motor bracket, steering, trim unit, motor mounts, and all supporting bushings.
