    sho vs f series

What is the main difference between the Yamaha f series engine and the sho? Thanks in advance.

The F series weighs more (maybe 40 pounds) and i believe comes in 25” and 30” shaft lengths. The sho comes in 20-25” lengths. Not sure about this but it seems to be the differences that i can remember.

the SHO is for performance hulls -- the f blocks are for saltwater water and pontoon boats

A number of guys around here run F Series motors on their bass boats, tins as well as glass boats. The SHO's had some issues a few years back, that I think are now solved. But, the F Series has been about as bullet-proof as outboard motors can get.

Does the F series have the ceramic coated bores or is that just for the SHO?

F Series not as fast. But goes for years. I'm hoping mine is a bullet proof one. I have been very happy with my F225. Not as fast as a 2 stroke, or the SHO but I still get there.

Its literally the same block in 225 and 250, just different tuning. The weight difference is the trim bracket, cowling, and exhaust
