A tip for lighting your camper in a road emergency

I learned this a while back but thought others might not be aware. If you have to park a popup, travel trailer or 5th wheel in a bad spot at night, you can light up the running lights with the truck unhooked by bridging the pins on the connector with a fuse.

You just bend the tabs on the fuse to match the angle of the connector. but enough different so they hold. Great if you have to leave it someplace dark with possible traffic, and handy if you need to check the running lights or need a little light on the back side of the trailer.

There is also a trick using a flasher module (same one that's used for turn signals/4 way flashers) that will flash the brake lights. Unfortunately I can't recall what slots it plugs into on the plug.

So I'm thinking the plug gets power from the house battery , I'm just slow .

Yes. On a camper the house is connected to the 12V line from the tow vehicle for battery charging. The fuse connects the 12V to your running lights.

Never thought of doing that. It's a cool idea. I suppose you could also do it with a jumper wire with a small set of alligator clips. I always carry a set in the boat, guess I need a set in the camper too.

Also tinfoil would probably work in an emergency.
