Not trying to argue with you but what things would those be? Weight is not a big enough factor to even worrg about 475 lbs for the 175 v6 and the pro xs 150 is 358. Negligable at best. You have been pushing for the 175 on the 3.0l I4 platform and thats fine but a v6 of the same hp will outperform it by alot especially a DOHC v6 that thing as i can imagine will flat run.

I'd like to see the torque curve of each compared to the current 2-stroke Pro XS's...if the same or better I then want to know how soon I can get one with a jet foot. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 200 Pro XS and with these being lighter, quieter and more fuel efficient it's a no brainer...but the low end torque is a must for the jet.
Yeah, I know you’re not. Size and weight. Also perhaps efficiency but I’m not an automotive engineer. Perhaps I only wanted 175 HP. Can I do it in a smaller, lighter more efficient package in the 3.0L block than I can in the 3.4L block? Maybe, I don’t know. Perhaps with the 3.4L block limited to 175HP they can create crap tons of torque that lets me swing a really big wheel. Maybe the weight difference is nothing but with a 175HP motor being aimed a 18’ boats I’d think going smaller and lighter would be best.

I really like the looks of the new 4 strokes. I wonder if the 250 and up will have a little more displacement? Eitherway I'm sure they will perform very well.
I was wondering that too. Something to make 250 and above.
I looked up the 175 SHO and it is listed as heavier than the new Merc. That has me scratching my head a bit. A bigger V6 is lighter than the smaller I4? Interesting. My pessimists side has me thinking the 475lbs came from the marketing department and is not accurate. The worse thought is it’s that light but at the expense of durability.

The weight is accurate. Engine was designed for best economy, torque AND lightest weight in it's class. And yes... there are 4 cylinder models in that class.
Might try some curiosity on before you set your mind. I think you'll be quite surprised if you get to test-run one of them.

Several questions keep coming up...'why no 250'? Well...remember what was stated in the release "This is Step 1 of what's coming in 2018'. Step 1 is the base foundation of the 'concept'. Step 2 & 3 will most likely be what is really the game changer for us Bass guys !!!!

The new 4 strokes are priced virtually the same as the Optimax currently. And yes, the weight is exact at 475
