Lots of gaget folks here are willing to help you part ways with your $.
If your in 4' of water none of these overpriced mega screen units are going to give you much more than "cheap" unit. Depth, water temp, and a bump on bottom when you go over a log. But you can get that by leaving your motor trimmed down.

If you’re always in 4ft you don’t really need electronics escpiecially if youre just casting to the bank all the time. Side scan could still be beneficial for you but you need to choose the one that works the best in super shallow water.

    thanks for the comments fellas.
We do fish super shallow water but the fish are not always hugging a cypress tree or in a hyacinth mat. we do Have places with drop offs off the bank that may go from 2' to 8'... we do have brush piles in what we consider offshore. I do make a trip to Toledo Bend twice a year and fish dock filled oxbows from time to time.

In shallow water, I realize as long as I have my GEN 1 HDS with a decent map I don't need anything else and still catch fish , I have been doing it for a long time. But I honestly think that having and learning how to use a good side imaging unit will help me find different things and hopefully catch more fish than not.

as far as the the money goes.. Just say I have some great friends/groomsman that gave me a very generous gift card to Cabelas the day before I said "I DO". And was told I had to buy electronics for my boat because I have been researching and talking about them for over a year.

I would the look at the Axiom. One unit with everything from 2D to 3D, all from one transducer.
For that money you could get 2 -9inch and network them. Get one With a RV100 for the console, and one with a CTP-100DVS for the bow.

With the 3D you can find all the contours of the bottom.

3 year warranty and they will be around for a while, so you don’t feel like you have to upgrade every few years. As new features come out they just update the software.

4' of water or less your going to get a cone diameter about the size of a beer can. Side imaging is not going that far. Use an 8' rod and stick it in the water. If half is out of the water you know it's 4'. Now that the need factor has been discussed, move on to the want factor. Most of my fishing equipment is not need but I wanted it and got it. I say if you want it go for it.

If your tied into getting some electronics thru Cabela's then your going to pay to much for that muffler....... Much better deals on-line and you still have to deal with the MFG of the electronics you buy anywhere you purchase. If your happy with the Gen1 one then upgrade to a Gen II or III and you can use the same transducers and power. At least when you go over 4 feet you can see it!

Humminbird Side Imaging works great in 4 feet of water. Why buy something that will not work for you.

You mean you have $1250-$1500 to spend. You better spend half of your "gift" on that new bride! Some warm, girly fishing clothes, a new pink fishing rod, maybe even a sexy camo nightie. Trust me.

Buddy of mine text me a couple weeks ago while I was on the water and told me to meet him. Got there and he pulled out a big roll of $100 bills, 50 of them, that he had won at the local casino the night before. Said "how much you need to get me some good units on here"? His BassCat had no "working" units on it. In short, I told him I may still be able to find some Helix 10's on sale for under $1k but I wasn't sure, he gave me $3000 and said get everything I need. Ordered everything the next morning from mygreenoutdoors and installed it all last Thursday night. Got everything, including 2 lakemaster cards for him for $2300 and made $200 for the install. He was happy as could be!
