    What does the 225 weigh?

When I looked at the weights it stated
    475 lbs (215kg)
*lightest available model..........which would be the 175 HP.

I was thinking since they are all the same displacement, they will all weight the same...175 to 225 provided the same shaft length, the 30s & 25s will weigh more than the 20s.

You do realize we're discussing MERCURY 4-strokes here... right?

Will the controls that go with the Pro XS work with this motor?

Triton 19 XS Elite, 225 Mercury Pro XS, Minn Kota Ultrex 112, Hydrowave H2, Twin 8' Power Pole Blades, Power Pole CHARGE, Lowrance HDS 12 and 16 at console, Lowrance HDS 9, Garmin LiveScope at bow, Mercmonitor, Rigid Industries Deck lights and other stuff to come that will make me go more broke

Yes, there are Mechanical Shift models which will work as direct replacement engines (no oil tank required, of course).

Perhaps, but they definitely set the bar high (low) in the esthetics department.

The big question is what will the bigger block four strokes weigh? The 250 HP weight will be interesting. I think weight and size scared some away from the Verado. Can Mercury get into the 550 lb range to compete with Yamaha without going to an aluminum block? We'll have to wait and see!

Me too. Tried it for a year or so at insistence of siblings but I've been FB free for 6yrs and counting.

No fan of the angular look, goes for cars too. Guess we can blame it on the F-117 which introduced the "faceted" look. My Optimax still runs good and I don't mind looking at it.

They may come in just under the sho in weight but I doubt it'll be much. Just guessing I'd say they 250/300 will be 4L minimum so they can make the power up top without being at the upper limit of the engines capacity sacrificing long term reliability.

Pricing will be in line (in general) with the current equivalent HP models.

We may see these engines shipping as early as May, 2018.

Timeline for the Optimax models will differ from one model to another. As of this time, the 1.5L Optimax and 2.5L Optimax models are discontinued.

4 cylinder Verado Models will be replaced by this V-6 model.

3L Optimax Models have not yet been announced, yet.
