    Trolling Motor Prop

Has anyone seen an increase in performance in their trolling motor after putting a new OEM prop on?

My prop is the original and it's pushing 6 years old so it has plenty of dings and scratches.

The TM is a 2012 model 80# Fortrex.

I'm planning on buying a new prop anyways so that I can have a spare in the boat, but was curious to know if anyone noticed any significant improvements after replacing a dinged up prop?

I know it's definitely made a difference for me in my Outboard, although that's not even in the same ballpark.

It depends on how bad the prop is chewed up. I bought a used MK with the newer blade with the cupping on the blade ends, except the cupping was worn away. A new prop made a noticeable difference on that.

Dinged up props cause more amp draw, which causes less power. Pu a new prop and buy another one for back up. Throw the old one away. It will set you back about $80 bucks.

Just bought a new prop. I’ll test it out this weekend.

Less thrust should equate to less amps unless there's a lot of junk hanging off the old prop.
