For many years the Loomis IMX 843 was my go to rod. Always thought if I would have to pick one rod for the rest of my life, that would be it. But now, I find that I am gravitating to 7'3 rods a little more. Just haven't found a totally awesome model that'd be great for most 12-20 lb applications.

Second rod just because I absolutely love fishing topwaters would be the Loomis IMX 783, mostly for bigger topwaters.

The NFC DS610-7 is way underpowered for Erie smallies. I use it for inland lakes and rivers though.

About any 6’10” medium heavy. Good catch all rod for most any moving bait. 6’6” just a tad short for me

My current favorite - Abu Veritas MH 6.9. Great all around rod but I like it for pitching.

    Imx 783c
    Alx promise

Really like both of those, the imx is 6'6" but is versatile. I use it for senkos most of the time. The promise is good for a bunch of things as well, though it is my current swim jig rod.

I buy rods based on what I need it for, so own a bunch of brands. Probably buying more alx rods this year, but fond of st croixs as well.

Lucky Craft LCM-701mf. They're composite rods marketed as cranking rods that are listed at medium/fast, though the way they rate their rods is a little different as these are really a medium heavy/mod-fast in just about any other brand. I have 1 first gen one called the "Bank Beater" and it's probably my favorite, while the other 2 are the next generation of that power and action called the "Fat Mini Magic."

They're absolutely the best moving bait rods for braid I've ever used. All three are on my deck at all times and get split between topwater hard baits, buzzbaits, jerkbaits, swim jigs, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits. Of course I discovered them after they were discontinued. I really wish I could figure out if there's another rod being built on these blanks or somewhere I could buy the blanks to build my own. Love them!

Kistler LTX 6'9" MH casting. I have 4 and would not trade them for any other rod. I can use most any bait available with this rod, absolutely love them.

    My two favorites:

Falcon Lowrider Mclellan Eakins Special 6’9” for casting jigs up to 3/4 oz. It’s a MH fast with a soft enough tip that the fish never sees the hookset coming. If he’s there - he won’t drop it while you reel down to him. I hear about phantom bites on jigs where folks set the hooks on “feel different”. With this rod, and good flouro, you know when it’s a bite.

Falcon Lowrider 7’ medium action moderate is my “go to” for cranking. As long as my hooks are good - it’s not coming unbuttoned. The flex/action of this rod is pure perfection.
