Does anyone use straight fluorocarbon on there spinning reels anymore? Seems like all the pros use braid with a leader?

Nothing but braid for me. If I spy bait I just use a 20ft fluro leader.

For deep water i use 8 or 10 pound seaguar fc.The 10 is a little aggravating at times and requires some upkeep but manageable , just my preference. For shallow water especially with current i power pro with a fc or mono leader

I use Nanofil with a 7# FC sniper leader up here on the Great Lakes. 25' visibility. The Nanofil casts like a bullet and won't loop up on the spool.

Always use braid with different lengths of FC leader

Having had many rats nests and cuss fits I would never do this again. If I didn't have braid, I'd use mono. Braid is just so much easier.

No, not sure why I would. Braid to FC leader always.

I use 80' of sniper over cheap 20# braid backing. When fishing ds or tubes and it gets twisted I snap off the bait strip of fc down to braid and tow the line behind the boat. when moving to next spot then retire and go back to work.

Just curious, everyone that has issues with FC on spinning reels, what brand lines are you using? I found when I switched from berkley 100% to seagaur, I had less issues, and none since I switched to Sunline sniper. You really do get what you pay for. I can get bulk spools of berkley for 50% off through a friend and I refuse to buy it.

Straight Sunline Sniper here! I am not a braid fan at all, use it for a few things and that is primarily because I have to.

Until I heard about / master the FG Knot I would use straight Fluoro on my spinning reels for Dropshot & Tube Fishing in Rivers with lots of hang-ups (IE - St Clair & Detroit Rivers). When I was using the Double Uni Braid-Floro I was tying 5-10 Leaders a day because every 4th or 5th snag it would take my leader also.

To remedy this I went to straight Floro so all I had to do with tie on another bait. I still do this from time to time but ever since I started using the FG Knot I’ve never once broken off at the leader. I will switch to my all Floro rod when if I ever run out of leaders on my 3 rods I rotate through, but I’ve to have this happen in a Tournament yet.

For Spybaiting I know a lot of guys use straight Floro, but I don’t see the need for it as the bait runs true and I catch them just fine with a Braid-Floro combo. I just use a longer leader with that setup.

I used to spool up with straight fluro...then I started using braid with fluro leaders on many set-ups.
