    Question Bass Cat Caracal

Been contemplating trading boats and this Caracal has got my attention, problem is, dealer offers Merc 225 ProXS or Suzuki 4stroke
Df225, my preferance was a 225SHO but they do not carry Yamaha, any input on DF225 Suzuki on a bass boat? I know there are some pros using the 250 SS Suzuki on larger boats... Told myself long ago, when I trade boats Im going to a 4stroke...
    Too heavy?
    Too slow?
    Pros and cons appreciated

That 225 Pro XS is a strong engine.

I have not heard of a Caracal/Suzuki combo yet. Has your dealer sold any rigged with one. I would not be a bit deterred from the Suzuki but they can be a little different to prop because of their gear ratio. It probably wouldn't be as fast as the ProXS but the reliability will be there.

I have a caracal proxs combo, I originally wanted a SHO but local dealer is mercury. I have to say I have not been disappointed in the combo.

I have the Caracal Mercury combo and it does great. I did have one issue that was fixed at the dealer in about 2 hours under warranty.

Go four stroke. All I’ve heard about the Suzuki’s was how good they were. I’ve had four SHO’s with not the first problem. Love not buying oil anymore. I have a 115 Merc 4 stroke on my beercan and its been good so far also.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Suzuki df225 is only available in a 25 inch mid section whereas the df250ss has a 20 inch midsection (made for bass boats). Rigging a df225 to a caracal may be interesting... If you want an SHO then keep looking and get what you want.

I was told the Caracal hull performed better with the SHO than the Merc. You can find dealers that handle Yamaha.

Find a sho. Unless you like the idea of 2 stroke oil, a poorly designed compressor, and lower unit seals that go bad and aren't covered in the warranty.
The zuki wouldn't be bad but will be quite a bit slower than anything else but its whisper quiet and will probably run forever.

every one is different but if I had a local dealer that offered a Suzuki that's what I would have.

Can't speak to speed, but I spent a day in an Eyra/Suzuki and was impressed.... Coming from a 25 year Merc guy.

I have the SHO on mine and love it but if I would’ve had the option on Suzuki or Honda I would’ve went that route but I’m not a speed demon either.
