When you say light gauge, like tracker toppers? I had a 1448 Tracker Grizzly that was nearly indestrucible. I would recommend for sure. This is going on the heavier side though.

Tracker Topper. Even the 14 has some weight to it. I saw all the loot you are carrying in the lounge. I’d look into a cart to tote it on.

If you read the lounge post, I have a custom cart made from wheelchair wheels... I looked at the Grizzly and it's too heavy... That is why I said light gauge/weight.

Sears use to make 10-14 foot boats that were light... really light but stable. Probably talking 1950s or 1960s when they were made. I have a 10 foot I used for frog gigging.

Wide? I don't think you'll find a car topper wider than 36" bottom and 48"wide at the gunwale. 10-12ft in length should be 100-140lbs give or take depending on brand.

1236 or a 1436 Alumacraft or G3 would be my pick.

36in bottom is not wide enough for the load. I'm looking for more stability

It's pretty hard to equate how much you're capable of carrying without really knowing all the conditions. This may be tough.

Have you looked at non-aluminum rigs? ie. Pelican Bass Raider?

I used to have one, and it was amazing. Extra portable and built to withstand the elements. Really not sure what kind of fishing you're doing as well.

One foot longer but a few years back I bought a 15 foot alumacraft from Academy. It was light and extremely stable. Im 350 plus and me and a buddy fished out of it often. Was a great boat. We hauled it in the back of the truck a few times and 2 loaded it without any issue. I used it on electric only lake. Eventually I found a trailer for it though. I opened my big mouth to a guy that offered to buy it and I shot him high because I didnt want to sell it and he bit. I had it decked out perfect to suit me.

I have been really thinking about different options. Most any boat that will have a 850lb weight limit weights 250-350lbs and costs 3-4K... Since we only use a 2-3HP outboard to save batteries and have a second method of power for safety, Planing is never going to happen.

I'm now considering getting a pontoon style swim raft. Cost $1,600, only weighs 200-230lbs, and has a 1,500lb weight limit. A spot lock troller can be mounted easily on the front. I would only need to put seat pedestal bases in the floor and an outboard motor bracket on the back. This Paddle King brand offers the small diameter toons to be closer to the water.
Water would never fill up the boat like we have had a problem with before. Plenty of room to stand up and stretch and move around a bit.

I'm looking at the 7ft X 8ft model. I know it would look funny... But what do you think? Any other out of the box thinking ideas?

I guess my one concern is, once you slap a motor on it, it is no longer a swim platform. Since this is not a "boat" it will not require registration. Is the body of water you will be using this on regulated by the DNR or local PD.

This same scenario played out for a friend of mine. Different name but the platform looks identical. DNR that lives on the same lake, told him. If he didn’t want to register the craft (as he called it). He would have to take the 3hp motor off. And use only an electric motor. But it is great for pan fishing with all the grandkids.

His flotation dock is the same off the water. So his grandfather wheels right on, and can lock the wheels in some brackets. He had the first I saw on the lake. But now there are about ten more.

Almost everyone knows someone who is a vet, are someone with a child or family member in a wheelchair. To see there face light up is truly rewarding

If you put any motor electric or gas on any floating object it needs to be registered in MI. The DNR told me if I put a troller on a blow up swim raft it needs to be registered. No problem registering this floating device when either or both gas or electric is mounted.

It will get registered. No different than a row boat. No need for registration until you put a motor on.
