    Life expectancy of the F300?

What kind of hours can you expect out of a well maintained F300? A friend of mine is looking at a 1 year old boat with this motor.

I know some guide services in S. La. that runs the F250. They run 10k to 20k hours easily.

Those F motors will last a LONG time. Quite a few on saltwater rigs around here and a few on bass boats

A buddy of mine in Louisiana bought a 300 from a guide and it had over 400 hours on it. It now has over 500 with no issues. My buddy is also a boat motor mechanic so he wasn’t worried about it. Worst part about that motor my buddy was complaining about is the prop. If we are talking about the same motor it has a clutch inside the prop. They aren’t cheap and there are t many laying around to test with.

Tell your buddy to switch to Quicksilver/MERC props. While the YDS is nice Yamaha doesn't make the best performance props. Maybe with their new factory they may.

Thanks guys. My friend is also looking at a one year old guide boat. It has 400 hours on the engine but will come with a full five years of warranty.

I don't know any fishing guides that actually keep their motors 10-20k hours, let alone a fishing guide that can rack that many up. Id like to hear how many hours they actually have. 2-3000 on guide boats but never 10-20k on a guide boat.

lol I’m siding with you. At 40 hours a week that’s still over 7 years if we split the difference with 15000hrs
