Best boat for small carry on lakes.... Light and stable.

Right now we use an 8ft Bass Baby plastic boat. It's great for small ponds. I think the weight limit is 450lbs.. I'm 200 and friend is 300lbs. troller, batt, 2.3hp Honda 4stroke, 30+lbs of winter gear and tackle, etc... It's very much over loaded. We have tipped it over in cold water. We have to carry this boat across ice pretty far sometimes to get to open water as this is our winter boat.


What boat in the 12-14ft range is light, wide and stable after we add some seats and pedestals? I've talked to my friend telling him we are risking our lives every time we use this boat.

for something to "carry" sadly i dont know of many personally especially quoting those weight needs, i had a coleman crawdad for years and never tipped or had issue at all 2 adults plus and 5hp motor and gas and gear BUT THE RANGERS SAW IT DIFFERENTLY and issued me an overcapacity summons and i sold the boat soon after

I did read it that's why I said they both should get a kayak. He also said that they carry it across ice I think a air boat would go right across ice DID you read the original post?

An airboat is not a carry on , if you mean an inflatable then that’s totally different

These Sun Dolphin boats are cool... But nothing I can carry across ice for any distance... They are heavy.

Your bass baby is 130 lbs. Sun Dolphin is 238. 100 lbs difference for all the extra room and stability.

Ive had a lot of small boats and this is the closest I’m aware of that will allow for 2 pedestal seats.

Not wanting an inflatable.....Bass Baby has wheels built in. Makes distance travel easier. I also have a custom axle made with wheel chair wheels.

Coleman use to make a small plastic jonboat.. it was very lite. I fished with a guy that had one. It was also quiet.
