Measure the diameter of the prop shaft. No telling what lower unit is on a second hand boat.

On a black lower unit shaft size is 1 inch, om a Gen-2 lower unit it will be 11/8 or called a fat shaft.

The Shaft before the splines will measure 1.250 if it is a Fat Shaft.

Okay, In do have the fat shaft, I pulled my prop looks like I have a solid hub , Part # 840237-c in the prop now, and has been in there for a couple of years, is this the right part, also what protection does this type of hub give, looks to me it doesn't give any

You have the right hub kit. No hub kit really offers any protection if the prop hits somthing.
