Trailer safety step for Stratos trailers

Check out this safety step with handle I got from http://www.boat-board.com . Bolted right over my winch stand with replacement bolts and washers. It greatly helps entry and exit over the bow of the boat when launching. It is VERY sturdy, has a black powder-coated finish, and reflective grip tape on the step. It took 15 minutes to install. The handle really helps entry and exit, and also helps me drive the boat onto the bow roller more accurately. It fit my 2003 Stratos 201 ProXL perfectly. Great investment if you fish alone and should help resale value of the rig.

thats a really great idea. I like to fish alone sometimes and getting to straight on to the roller is always a little tricky when its windy.

They are custom built for around $200. Go to the website and he will quote it for you. Takes about 3 weeks after he receives payment. This is a very well built product. I can jump on it with my 250 lb gut and it does not move!

Good looking mount. I made a step at work, machine shop in the back is handy! Like this design a lot.

Yeah, plenty of bracing, and gussets everywhere it could possibly flex. The reflector tape on the step helps at night, too!

Wow, I got a chance to REALLY try the Boat Board step tonight, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I was able to use the handle, climb over the bow down to the trailer tongue, then swing out while gripping the handle and hook the winch strap to the bow eye, and climb back aboard without any problem This thing should be standard equipment on every trailer, greatly reducing the chance for injury. I'm VERY impressed.

Re: Trailer safety step for Stratos trailers (STRATOS 1)

After 2 seasons of hard fishing, it still looks like new and does not move AT ALL when I step on it, swing on it, or pull on it.

    This is a GREAT PRODUCT!

I really like that diamond plate right behind the winch. Did it come standard or did you have it made???? Thanks

Re: Trailer safety step for Stratos trailers (FF Jeff)

It was on the trailer when I got it. Standard equipment I believe. But it still gets slick. The Boat Board step has bright yellow stripes of what feels like sandpaper on the step. I should get some for the top of the trailer tongue so it is not slick!

I like that! I've fallen out of the boat when climbing over the bow after putting the boat on the trailer to drive off the ramp. this would be perfect for me.

Re: Trailer safety step for Stratos trailers (CandOFiberglass)

You must be built like me! Yeah, I fell once on a cold lonely day at the ramp and almost broke my lower leg on the trailer tongue. I was wet, muddy, and almost sick from the pain. This step should be the next mandatory safety item on trailers - like the stern boarding step on new boats.

To bad the guy doesn't make them any more. Small, simple and the price was right. Less complicated than the other steps out there. While he keeps the web site up, he's pretty much disappeared and doesn't even answer requests any more.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.
