250 pro xs got me wet today
2013 250 pro xs on BassCat Cougar. serial number 2B013363. tried to take off today to beat a thunderstorm to the bank and engine lugged then went dead. Tried to restart, would not fire. Smartcraft threw message sys fault, emergency stop, non critical check lanyard. flipped kill switch several times to no avail. one time during all my switching and cranking it threw another fault, lost engine com. but lost it before i could read more. somebody came by and towed me in(we both got wet). where do i need to start looking? kill switch in the conterol box or key switch in the dash? thanks

The switch itself could be bad or the kill switch wiring could have become disconnected. Have you are anyone/anything been under the console lately?

Has anyone ever seen a kill switch go bad?
-
Yes. Disconnect and check it with a DVOM.

Could a problem there or at ignition switch be blowing the fuse on the ignition coil circuit or could a bad coil, blow that fuse and make the smartcraft think the kill switch was activated?
-
A defective Lanyard switch will not cause fuses to blow.

It was a coil. Running like top now. Funny that it made it throw kill switch code tho. Thanks for the help

Same happened to me i knew it was probably a coil after i put it on the trailer and checked the fuses. Bottom right 20Amp fuse blown this is the fuse for the ignition circuit. Replaced it blowed again after trying to turn over then i figured it was probably a coil, Cheap made chinese coils. Mercury cutting corners . I have been a Merc man all my life but anymore they are all cutting corners
