    Prop Challenge

    Hi all

    I have a Z7 with 200hp ProXS
Running a 25 Fury B&B from Mark Croxton
When I am alone in my boat with full gear and 1/2 tank of fuel I am hitting about 68-70mph but RPMs are only getting to 5350 to 5400 rpms (Merc Monitor)
    Run a Bob's action jack 8" Jackplate
I have to run the prop fairly deep to get the best speed I have to set jackplate to 4.5" Below Pad. If I run 3 or 3.5" below pad I lose a good 4 to 5 MPH

I am thinking I need to move down to a 24 Fury to get rpms up but not sure in my case that a 4 blade would be a good solution.

My spare prop is a 24 tempest B&B from Croxton and I can get the RPMs up to the 5600 range but speed is not there at 65-66 mph.

Need some advice from you more experienced set-up guys.

    Thanks!

You must have a ton of gear in that boat my dad had the same boat and motor 26 fury on tournament mornings he could turn it 5750 r and run real close to 70 .

2 power poles and jackplate add a lot of weight.
I would say I am on the heavy side. I got rid of one of the 4 batteries couple years ago, Mark said he added some extra cup to my props when he B&B'd them.

I just repowered my z7 with a 200hp proxs and have only had it on the water once. I went with a 25p fury 4 and I got over 60mph not trimmed up at 3/4 throttle. Plan on going out in a few days to finish break in but you shouldn't have a problem breaking 70mph solo from what I've gathered. Doesn't really sound like those props are working for your setup but that guy is pretty good from what I've heard....

You should test a virgin 24P Fury and 23P Tempest in an effort to achieve 5700 LOADED (how you normally operate the boat) RPM's.

I think Savage is in the right direction, I'd try a 24p fury to start and see where you're at. You should blow a 23p tempest plus out of the water and if you can't something is broke. That's what I ran on my z7 with a 150hp.

I need to find someone with a 24 Fury so I can test....

Or try and trade my 24 Tempest for one...
