    '98 200 Bass setup help

Father-in-law has a '98 ProCraft 200 Bass dual console with a '98 Merc EFI 200 with the standard gearcase which I believe is 1.87:1. Current setup right now is no jack plate, motor is well under pad, not sure of actual measurement, I'm guessing 4-5" below. 23 LaserII not worked. Lots of water pressure at WOT, barely getting 61-62 solo, about 60 with two people. I had a '97 180 Bass that I put a 6" plate and a worked 23 LaserII and saw 64mph on GPS so i'm thinking a 6" plate and either a Trophy Plus or Tempest Plus for starters should get us around 65-66. Hoping he can run 67-68 solo by the time we're done, but that may be unrealistic. I know these boats are heavy so not sure what to expect out of this boat, i know it will be different from my 18-footer.

6-8" jack plate and a 25 trophy or tempest. And that motor need to come up a bit, about 2 inches below the pad but start lower around 3 and raise about a 1/4" at a time and watch you water pressure.

I’ve bot a 98 V200 DC with 200EFi. I put a 6” jack plate and upgraded my prop last year and went from high 50s to 67 with me and tackle. Anything more than 6” and your steering cables will probably be to short. I’ve got a 24trophy and 25 tempest. I get more speed out of the tempest but prefer the trophy. I still get 64 but the boat just pops out of the water.

Mine ran 73 with 2 guys, tackle and 1/2 tank of gas.. Then I put that heavy ass GPS in there and she dropped 10mph..
