    Trolling motor recommendations 90 361V

I just purchased a 361 in caramel and nutmeg colors. It’s my first bass boat and while it’s frozen here I’d like to upgrade from what I believe is a 1990 minn Kota tm. I called Minn Kota and they recommend a terrova 55lb with a 50 some inch shaft. All my fellow bass friends have either 80 or 100+ lb thrust and tell me a 55 wouldn’t move a thing in current or wind. Any ideas from you guys? I’ll try and post some pics of boat tomorrow. All I have is dealer photos right now. Thanks guys

Whichever model you choose, go with 24 volt and at least 80 pound thrust.

I have an 80 Fortrex on my 373 and it is fantastic. The only thing I don't like about the Fortrex is it sits a bit higher when in the stowed position.

I bought a 1988 360V a couple of years ago and it too had the original 1988 Minn Kota on it. I found a smoking deal on a Maxxum 65 and mounted that on the boat and have not regretted it. HOWEVER, if I were to stumble upon an extra 2K laying around, I would jump all over that 80 Ultrex in a second!!

Found a guy selling a maxxum 80 used for 2 seasons for 350. Hardly looks used so if he responds I’ll more than likely throw that on. I would love a ultrex but holy moly. I buy that and the lady makes me eat it.

I had a 1990 that I put on the 80lb Maaxum Pro with lift assist to replace the 65lb that was on it when I bought it. Get an 80 Fortrex or Ultrex and you should be good to go.

So I ended up buying a terrova 101 with ipilot for 500. They guy was an older gentleman and he said he hardly got to use it due to a back injury that forced him to get an ultrex. Question is since the boat is set up for 24v is there much I would need to go 36 other than a jumper? Also it comes with the quick release plate and I’m kinda stumped on how exactly I’m going to mount that with the bows light plug being right there. Any recommendations?

Also I have a minn Kota service center cutting the shaft to whatever size I want. Is 45 the absolute largest you would go or would a 52 be better?

The 45 is fine on mine. I would however like to have a chance to try the 52. When I'm on spot lock in moderate waves I have to stand close the front to keep the motor in the water.

    Edit
You won't need group 31 size batteries.

Had a 55# MG on my 1990 362 since 1995. Just installed a gently used Tour 82 / 45" shaft. Had to rework wiring for straight 24 volt and replace the 40amp breakers for a single 50 amp per MG. For the heavy old 18 foot Rangers I wouldn't go less than 70 lb thrust.
